The U.S. Central Command announces the resumption of maritime sanctions against Iran.

U.S. Central Command to Resume Maritime Blockade on Iran

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced plans to resume its maritime blockade on shipping to and from Iranian ports. This decision follows directives from President Donald Trump and will take effect tomorrow evening.

Details of the Blockade

In a statement released on X, CENTCOM confirmed that the blockade will begin on July 14 at 4 PM Eastern Time. U.S. forces will implement measures to monitor and control vessels heading to Iranian coastal areas or departing from them.

Background on the Initial Phase

This decision comes after an initial phase of enforcement that lasted from April 13 to June 18. During this period, U.S. forces successfully redirected over 140 compliant vessels and disrupted nine non-compliant ships. Additionally, they allowed more than 50 commercial vessels carrying humanitarian aid to pass through the blockade zone.

Guidance for Mariners

CENTCOM urges all mariners to stay updated with navigational alerts. They should also communicate with U.S. naval forces via Channel 16, which is designated for direct communication among ships operating in the Gulf of Oman and the approaches to the Strait of Hormuz. Further information will be provided through an official notice.

This strategic move underscores the U.S. commitment to maintaining maritime security in the region.
