Health Minister Discusses Saudi-Funded Health Projects in Yemen

On Tuesday, Dr. Qassem Bahibah, Yemen’s Minister of Public Health and Population, met with Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Al Jaber, in Riyadh. The discussion focused on health projects that the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program (SDRP) is implementing and funding in Yemen.

Overview of Health Projects in Yemen

During the meeting, the two officials reviewed the various stages of health projects in Yemen. They specifically highlighted the King Salman Medical City in Al-Ghaydah, the University Hospital and Oncology Center in Hadramout, and other significant health initiatives. These projects aim to enhance healthcare services across the country.

Support for Sustainable Health Initiatives

The conversation also addressed the Health Support Fund project. Dr. Bahibah outlined the progress made in this area and emphasized the SDRP’s involvement. This project aims to ensure the sustainability of various health initiatives, which is crucial for the long-term improvement of healthcare in Yemen.

The meeting included key figures such as Dr. Abdulraqeeb Al-Haidari, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Mohammed Al-Qabati, Health Attaché at the Yemeni Embassy in Riyadh, and Engineer Hassan Al-Attas, Assistant Supervisor General of the SDRP. The health team from the program also participated in the discussions.

This collaboration between Yemen and Saudi Arabia signifies a commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and providing essential services to the Yemeni population.
