In a significant meeting held today in the temporary capital of Aden, Dr. Qasem Baheeb, the Minister of Public Health and Population, engaged with Peter Hawkins, the UNICEF representative in Yemen. The discussion focused on various health-related topics and explored strategies to enhance the healthcare system in the country.
During the meeting, Minister Baheeb reviewed UNICEF’s interventions in the health sector. He emphasized that UNICEF plays a crucial and active role in supporting health initiatives across Yemen. This partnership is vital for addressing the ongoing health challenges faced by the population.
Minister Baheeb extended an invitation to the UNICEF representative to attend the First Health System Conference. This important event is scheduled to take place in Aden from February 18 to 20. The conference aims to bring together stakeholders to discuss and develop strategies for improving Yemen’s healthcare system.
In a related development, Minister Baheeb and the UNICEF representative signed the sectoral plan for the Health and Nutrition Programs for the years 2025 and 2026. This signing ceremony took place in the presence of Dr. Ali Al-Walidi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Primary Health Care, Dr. Kabir, the UNICEF office director in Aden, and Ali Qassem, the Director of Communication and Relations.
This collaborative effort marks a significant step towards enhancing health and nutrition services in Yemen, ensuring that the population receives the necessary support for a healthier future.
