Governor of Taiz Inspects Conditions of Displaced Families

Governor of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan, visited the conditions of displaced families at the Al-Wahda School camps in the Anbu area, the Bani Sarour camp, and the Omar bin Abdulaziz and Martyr Abdul Ilah schools in the Al-Sunah area of the Mafer district. He assessed the level of humanitarian services provided to these families, particularly focusing on child protection and psychological and social support services.

Emphasis on Coordination and Integration

During the visit, Governor Shamsan, accompanied by the Deputy Governor for Social Affairs, Mohammed Al-Sanwi, the Director of the Mafer district, Ahmed Al-Sanwi, the Director of the Planning and International Cooperation Office, Nabil Jamal, the Director of the Social Affairs and Labor Office, Fouad Al-Faqih, and the Director of the Executive Unit for Managing Displaced Camps, Ali Al-Shamiri, stressed the importance of enhancing coordination and integration between local authorities, executive offices, humanitarian organizations, and partners. He highlighted the need to direct interventions according to actual needs to improve services and strengthen child protection.

Commitment to Basic Services

Governor Shamsan emphasized the implementation of executive measures to ensure the continued provision of basic services and to enhance humanitarian responses for displaced individuals and those affected by the escalation and attacks of the Houthi terrorist militias. He noted the interest of the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, in the conditions of displaced individuals and his ongoing follow-up on their situations, along with directives to provide necessary care and services.

Appreciation for Saudi Support

The governor appreciated the fraternal support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the continuous humanitarian efforts through the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works.

Addressing the Needs of Displaced Families

During the visit, Shamsan listened to the primary needs of displaced families and reviewed child protection activities and psychological and social support programs implemented by the Social Affairs and Labor Office in the governorate, funded by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

Project Goals and Target Beneficiaries

The project aims to provide psychological and social support services to approximately 11,000 children from October to December 2026. It also seeks to raise awareness among 8,000 displaced individuals and host community members about the dangers of mines and war remnants. Additionally, the project will support 480 youth with life skills programs, manage cases for 800 children, and provide urgent assistance to 104 children in several districts of the governorate.

Ongoing Commitment to Protection Programs

The Director of the Social Affairs and Labor Office confirmed the office’s commitment to continuing the implementation and monitoring of protection programs. This effort includes coordination with local authorities, UNICEF, and partners to enhance access to the most vulnerable children and families, providing support services amid the current humanitarian conditions.
