Governor of Shabwa Discusses Health Sector Support with Médecins Sans Frontières

Shabwa, Yemen – Today, Governor Awad bin al-Wazir met with Noufal al-Qurashi, the project manager for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Shabwa. They addressed several issues concerning the medical activities of the organization in the province and discussed plans to enhance support for the local health sector.

Project Impact on Local Healthcare

During the meeting, al-Qurashi and Dr. Hosni al-Hoshabi, the project’s medical director, presented statistics detailing the number of beneficiaries receiving services at the Shabwa General Hospital for Maternal and Child Health in Ataq. Their findings highlighted the significant impact of MSF’s interventions in the hospital.

Acknowledgment of MSF’s Contributions

Governor bin al-Wazir praised MSF’s efforts to improve medical services, particularly in primary healthcare for mothers and children. He emphasized the organization’s crucial role in bolstering healthcare services within the hospital.

Call for Expansion of MSF’s Activities

The governor reiterated his call for the Belgian organization to expand its activities across all districts in Shabwa. He stressed the importance of leveraging MSF’s expertise to further develop the health sector in the region.

This collaboration aims to strengthen healthcare delivery and ensure that more residents benefit from essential medical services.
