Today, the Governor of Hadhramaut, Mabkhout Mubarak bin Madi, inaugurated the annual exhibition at the Noor Center for the Blind and Training for the Disabled in Mukalla. This event showcases educational and rehabilitation tools designed for the visually impaired, disabled individuals, and those with intellectual disabilities.
Accompanied by the Secretary-General of the Local Council in the province, Saleh Aboud Al-Amqi, and several officials, the governor toured the various sections of the exhibition. The event aims to highlight the creativity of individuals with disabilities. Attendees can explore scientific, artistic, and handcrafted displays created by the visually impaired and disabled. The exhibition also features assistive technologies and programs that aid individuals with disabilities in their daily lives. These include screen readers, talking devices, Braille books, audio recordings, e-books, handicrafts, and culinary arts.
During the visit, the governor learned about the talents of 400 students at the Noor Center, which includes both visually impaired individuals and those with intellectual disabilities. The students showcased their skills in sewing, handicrafts, perfumes, hairdressing, henna application, educational tools, focus and attention exercises, visual and auditory arts, scientific experiments, speech therapy, sensory integration, and Islamic education.
The governor praised the remarkable creativity displayed by the students at the Mukalla Center for the Blind and Training for the Disabled. He emphasized the local authority’s commitment to supporting the center, aiming to establish it as a major educational institution for the integration and care of this vital segment of society.
Additionally, the governor reviewed the center’s educational progress and assessed its needs. He directed that support be provided to enhance the center’s facilities and ensure the availability of necessary educational resources.
In a separate engagement, the governor inspected the operations of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor office on the coast. He reviewed the office’s activities and listened to the director, Ahmed Salem Badhros, along with department heads, who outlined the office’s responsibilities. These include organizing labor affairs, promoting employment, ensuring worker safety, enhancing skills, resolving labor disputes, and raising awareness of labor rights and culture. The office also focuses on strengthening oversight of civil society organizations.
The governor also visited the General Authority for Roads and Bridges, where he met with the director, Engineer Taha Amin Bahidra. They discussed upcoming projects planned for the province this year, funded by the Road Maintenance Fund.
During the meeting, preparations were also underway to schedule a meeting between the governor and the labor and union committee of the authority, aimed at facilitating land allocation for the authority’s employees.
This comprehensive approach reflects the governor’s dedication to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities and enhancing community welfare in Hadhramaut.
