Governor Salem Al-Khanbashi has directed security forces and local elite units to strengthen security at Al-Riyan International Airport, the city of Mukalla, and throughout Hadhramaut. He emphasized the need to raise readiness levels and respond decisively to any attempts to loot weapons or disrupt the region’s stability.
In a recent statement, Governor Al-Khanbashi asserted, “Hadhramaut and its resources belong to its people and the state. We will not allow our cities to become arenas for chaos or settling scores.” He highlighted the importance of protecting vital installations and security facilities, stating that any attack on these assets directly threatens Hadhramaut’s security and stability.
The governor firmly rejected any attempts by external forces to exploit the current situation for looting or sabotage. He stressed that local authorities would not tolerate any interference from outside the province. “Protecting Hadhramaut is a collective responsibility that falls on everyone,” he stated, urging citizens to remain vigilant.
Al-Khanbashi warned that anyone attempting to disrupt security or engage in looting would face legal consequences. He noted that local leadership has closely monitored recent attempts at chaos and theft targeting military facilities at Al-Riyan International Airport. He attributed responsibility for the airport’s security situation to the United Arab Emirates, which failed to hand over control to local authorities upon its withdrawal.
The local authority has called upon tribal leaders, dignitaries, and honorable citizens of Hadhramaut to unite in support of state institutions and security forces. The governor urged everyone to play their part in raising awareness and protecting public and private property.
As Hadhramaut faces these critical challenges, the governor’s proactive measures aim to ensure the region’s safety and stability. The collaboration between local authorities and the community will be vital in maintaining order and preventing any escalation of unrest.
