Al Hudaydah, Yemen – Dr. Hassan Taher, the Governor of Al Hudaydah, has announced a significant reduction in the prices of essential goods. This decision aligns with the recent recovery of the Yemeni rial and adheres to directives from the Central Bank.
During a meeting today with local traders and currency exchange operators in the liberated areas of the province, Governor Taher emphasized the importance of compliance with the new pricing regulations. The meeting included key officials such as Police Director Brigadier Najeeb Waraq and the Director of Industry and Trade, Ammar Qattab, along with the directors of Al Khawkhah and Hays districts, Salem Aliyan and Muthar Al-Qadi, respectively.
Governor Taher assured attendees that local authorities would implement strict measures against those who manipulate prices or violate regulations. He urged traders to adhere to the price reductions and called on business owners and factory operators to conduct transactions in the national currency. This approach aims to alleviate the financial burden on citizens.
To ensure compliance, the governor directed the Industry and Trade Office and the police to intensify their field inspections of markets and currency exchange shops. This initiative seeks to identify and address any violations promptly.
In a further effort to stabilize prices, Governor Taher proposed the formation of a special association for bakery owners. This association will standardize the price and size of bread, ensuring that it remains affordable and of high quality. The governor warned that any actions jeopardizing citizens’ access to basic food items would face severe repercussions.
