On Thursday, Dr. Shaiy al-Zindani, Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met with Julian Harness, the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen. The meeting took place in Aden, Yemen’s temporary capital.
Minister al-Zindani welcomed Harness and expressed the Yemeni government’s appreciation for the work of international organizations in the country. He emphasized the government’s commitment to facilitating the operations of these organizations, ensuring they can effectively deliver humanitarian aid to those in need across all provinces.
During the meeting, al-Zindani highlighted the importance of transitioning from emergency relief to sustainable development projects. He urged the need for solutions that enhance the living conditions of Yemeni citizens throughout the nation. Furthermore, he called for the immediate release of all detainees from local and international organizations held by Houthi militias.
In response, Harness expressed gratitude for the Yemeni government’s dedication to alleviating the humanitarian crisis and its serious efforts to achieve peace, security, and stability in Yemen.
The meeting also included Ambassador Jamal Awad, the Foreign Minister’s Advisor for Office Affairs, who contributed to the discussions.
This engagement underscores the ongoing collaboration between the Yemeni government and the United Nations in addressing the pressing humanitarian needs of the population while striving for long-term solutions.
