Yemen's Foreign Minister Meets Australian Counterpart at Manama Dialogue

Key Discussions on Bilateral Relations

Today, Dr. Shai’a Al-Zandani, Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met with Tim Watts, Australia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the Manama Dialogue, a prominent regional security conference.

During their discussion, both ministers focused on enhancing the bilateral relationship between Yemen and Australia. They explored various avenues for cooperation across multiple sectors. The conversation also included an overview of the current situation in Yemen and the broader region, addressing issues of mutual interest.

Appreciation for Australia’s Support

Minister Al-Zandani expressed Yemen’s gratitude for the Australian government’s support. He acknowledged Australia’s ongoing humanitarian and developmental assistance to Yemen, which plays a crucial role in alleviating the challenges faced by the Yemeni people.

Australia’s Commitment to Peace in Yemen

In response, Minister Watts reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to supporting Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council. He emphasized Australia’s dedication to efforts aimed at ending the conflict and establishing peace in Yemen. Watts also reiterated that Australia will continue to provide humanitarian aid to the Yemeni population.

Attendees of the Meeting

The meeting included several key officials. Mark Donovan, Australia’s Ambassador to Yemen, participated alongside Ambassador Adel Sheikh, Deputy Head of the Foreign Minister’s Office. Additionally, Alaa Afara, an advisor responsible for the Gulf and the island, was present.

This meeting underscores the importance of international collaboration in addressing the challenges faced by Yemen and highlights Australia’s role in supporting peace and stability in the region.
