Yemeni Foreign Minister Discusses Houthi Threats with French Ambassador

Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Afrah Al-Zuba, met today with the French Ambassador to Yemen, Veronique Foland-Anini. They reviewed the latest developments in Yemen and explored ways to enhance French support for the Yemeni government. The discussion also focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in political and security fields.

Urgent Call for International Action

Dr. Al-Zuba emphasized the need for a firm international stance against the Houthi terrorist militias. She called for intensified efforts to undermine their military capabilities and cut off their funding sources. This action aims to mitigate the threats posed by the Houthis to Yemen’s security and the broader region, ultimately contributing to the restoration of state institutions and the establishment of security and stability.

Rising Threats to Maritime Security

The Foreign Minister warned about the escalating threats from Houthi militias to international navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab. She highlighted the implications of these threats on regional security, global trade, and energy prices. Dr. Al-Zuba noted that the growing military capabilities of the Houthis, along with their connections to armed and terrorist groups in various countries, pose a direct threat to regional and international security.

Violations Against the Yemeni People

Dr. Al-Zuba asserted that the Houthi terrorist militia does not represent the Yemeni people. Instead, they commit severe violations against them, including the recruitment of children for combat and the confiscation of citizens’ rights and fundamental freedoms. She stressed the importance of increasing coordination with the international community to expose these violations and highlight the repercussions of the militias’ actions on regional and international security.

French Solidarity with Yemen

In response, Ambassador Foland-Anini expressed France’s solidarity with Yemen. She affirmed her commitment to keeping the French government informed about the situation in Yemen. The ambassador acknowledged her understanding of the challenges Yemen faces and their implications at various levels.
