On Thursday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, held a phone call with Salim Al-Khanbashi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadhramaut. The discussion focused on the current situation in the province and the measures taken following the Houthi attacks on Al-Riyan International Airport.
During the call, President Alimi received a briefing on the impacts of the terrorist attacks and the operational status of the airport. He inquired about the steps taken to protect travelers and airport staff, as well as to ensure the continuity of services. The conversation also covered the security and humanitarian conditions in the region, along with efforts to meet the needs of citizens and displaced individuals.
The President praised the local authority and the security committee in Hadhramaut for their efforts to enhance security and stability. He commended their initiatives to accommodate displaced persons and the mobilization of hospitals to treat victims of the criminal attacks. Alimi highlighted the community’s response, particularly the blood donation efforts, which reflect the solidarity and resilience of the Yemeni people in the face of Houthi terrorism.
President Alimi emphasized that targeting airports and civilian facilities in Yemen and neighboring countries, as well as shelling residential areas in Taiz and other provinces, will not deter the Yemeni people and their armed forces from continuing the fight to restore state institutions with the support of the Coalition for the Support of Legitimacy. He asserted that protecting citizens and deterring sources of threats remains a responsibility that the state will undertake with determination.
The President further stressed that the Houthi escalation and attempts to intimidate civilians and disrupt their livelihoods will not provide the militias with an opportunity to impose their will or evade accountability. He reaffirmed that the “Dawn of Yemen” operation will continue to achieve its objectives, aiming to end the coup and restore state authority across the entire national territory.
