Executive Office Discusses Tax and Agricultural Preparations in Lahij

The Executive Office of Lahij Governorate convened its regular meeting on Wednesday, led by Governor Ahmed Turki. The meeting focused on two key reports: one from the Tax Authority and another detailing the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation’s preparations for the upcoming 2025 agricultural season.

Key Attendees and Decisions

The meeting included significant figures such as the Secretary-General of the Local Council, Awad Al-Salahi, and various provincial officials, including agents Muhammad Salam, Brigadier General Abdul Fattah Haitham, and Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim. The provincial police chief, Brigadier General Nasser Al-Shawhati, also attended. During the discussions, the Executive Office mandated financial revenue offices to assess the activities of private sector establishments within the province. They will monitor these businesses’ operations and expansions, ensuring compliance with state financial obligations.

Tax Revenue Report

Anis Al-Uzaybi, the Director of the Tax Authority in Lahij, presented a report highlighting the total tax revenues for the previous year, 2024. The report indicated that the combined central, local, and joint tax revenues reached 7 billion, 57 million, 443 thousand, and 218 riyals.

Agricultural Preparations for 2025

Abdul Malik Naji, the Director of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, discussed the office’s preparations for the 2025 agricultural season. He outlined plans for maintaining and upgrading flood control systems, protecting agricultural land, and clearing irrigation channels of debris and vegetation. The office aims to construct facilities and culverts to enhance irrigation for agricultural lands. Additionally, they will coordinate with floodwater user associations to develop a robust irrigation plan, particularly for previously drought-affected areas.

Emphasis on Revenue Collection

Governor Turki stressed the importance of government offices in Lahij diligently collecting public revenues from all obligated parties across various commercial sectors. He emphasized that this effort is crucial for local authorities to implement their development programs aimed at benefiting the community.

Continued Support for Revenue Collection

The governor assured that the local authority and security apparatus in Lahij will continue to support revenue collectors. They will provide necessary protection to ensure compliance from all private sector entities and individuals regarding state fee obligations.
