Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mustafa Noman, attended the opening of the eighth Indian Ocean Conference (IOC) today in Muscat. This significant event gathered officials from various Arab and foreign nations, including Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi.

The conference focused on pressing security issues related to the Indian Ocean. During his speech, Noman emphasized the threat posed by Iranian-backed Houthi militias in the Red Sea. He pointed out that their activities jeopardize global trade and contribute to piracy and smuggling in the region. The Deputy Minister reiterated Yemen’s commitment to enhancing its maritime capabilities to combat these threats in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait.
