Deputy Foreign Minister Meets IORA Secretary-General at Indian Ocean Conference

Muscat, Oman – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mustafa Naaman, held a significant meeting with the Secretary-General of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), Sangav Ranjan. This encounter took place on the sidelines of the eighth Indian Ocean Conference in the Omani capital, Muscat.

Regional Cooperation Discussed

During the meeting, Naaman and Ranjan discussed strategies for enhancing regional cooperation to address the pressing challenges facing the security and welfare of the Indian Ocean region. They emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among member states to foster stability and prosperity.

Diplomatic Training Initiatives

Additionally, the two leaders agreed to implement diplomatic training programs tailored to the needs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These initiatives aim to elevate the professionalism of the ministry’s staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to navigate the complexities of international relations.

Importance of Strengthening Partnerships

Ranjan underscored the necessity of strengthening cooperation among Indian Ocean nations. He highlighted the potential for exploring partnership opportunities across various sectors, which could lead to mutual benefits for the countries involved.

This meeting marks a pivotal step in fostering collaboration within the Indian Ocean region, as both leaders remain committed to enhancing diplomatic ties and addressing shared challenges.
