The Community Support Committee convened today, Thursday, in the temporary capital of Aden, under the leadership of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Naif Saleh Al-Bakri. The meeting focused on prioritizing support for citizens affected by the military escalation of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia and the efforts to alleviate the suffering of displaced families.
The meeting reviewed the humanitarian situation and urgent needs of affected citizens in the Lahij and Taiz governorates. Participants discussed the necessary community support required to meet their basic needs. Additionally, they explored ways to enhance coordination among relevant authorities and unify official and community efforts to improve humanitarian response.
During the meeting, Minister Al-Bakri emphasized that supporting affected citizens and assisting displaced families represent a national and humanitarian priority. He called for the collaboration of official and community efforts, integrating the roles of state institutions, local authorities, and supporting entities. This collaboration aims to ensure an effective response to the increasing humanitarian needs and alleviate the living burdens faced by citizens.
Al-Bakri highlighted the severe humanitarian suffering caused by the waves of displacement due to the military escalation by the Houthi militia. This situation has forced thousands of families to leave their homes in search of safety and stability. He stressed the need to intensify support and relief efforts, paying necessary attention to the needs of the displaced and affected individuals. The goal is to provide essential requirements that can help alleviate their suffering and improve their living conditions.
Al-Bakri confirmed that the committee will continue to fulfill its responsibilities in monitoring the humanitarian situation and providing support to affected citizens. It will also enhance coordination and communication with government entities, local authorities, organizations, and supporting bodies. This approach aims to expand the scope of community support and improve the effectiveness of humanitarian interventions.
As part of practical community support efforts, the committee organized a food convoy to the Al-Sabiah areas in Lahij governorate. This initiative received funding from the local authority in Aden to help alleviate the suffering of affected citizens and meet their food and living needs.
