The Community Support Committee convened today, Thursday, in the temporary capital of Aden, under the leadership of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Naif Saleh Al-Bakri. The meeting focused on prioritizing support for citizens affected by the military escalation of the Houthi militia, which is backed by the Iranian regime. The committee also discussed efforts to alleviate the suffering of displaced families and affected individuals.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the humanitarian situation and urgent needs of citizens in the Lahij and Taiz governorates. They identified necessary community support to meet basic needs and discussed ways to enhance coordination among relevant authorities. The goal is to unify official and community efforts to improve the humanitarian response.
Minister Al-Bakri emphasized that supporting affected citizens and assisting displaced families represent a national and humanitarian priority. He called for a collaborative effort between official and community sectors, as well as the integration of state institutions, local authorities, and supporting entities. This collaboration aims to ensure an effective response to the increasing humanitarian needs and to alleviate the living burdens faced by citizens.
Al-Bakri highlighted the severe humanitarian suffering caused by waves of displacement due to the military escalation by the Houthi militia. This situation has forced thousands of families to leave their homes in search of safety and stability. He stressed the need to intensify support and relief efforts, prioritize the needs of the displaced and affected individuals, and work towards providing essential requirements to ease their suffering and improve their living conditions.
The committee will continue to fulfill its responsibilities in monitoring the humanitarian situation and providing support to affected citizens. It will enhance coordination and communication with government entities, local authorities, organizations, and supporting bodies. This approach aims to expand the scope of community support and improve the effectiveness of humanitarian interventions.
As part of practical community support efforts, the committee organized a food convoy to the Al-Sabiah areas in Lahij governorate. This initiative received funding from the local authority in Aden to help alleviate the suffering of affected citizens and meet their food and living needs.
