Dr. Ahmed Bin Daghr Discusses Yemen’s Situation with South Korean Ambassador

On Tuesday, Dr. Ahmed Bin Daghr, the Chairman of the Shura Council, met with Do Bong-kai, the South Korean Ambassador to Yemen. The two officials discussed the latest developments in Yemen and the bilateral relations between their nations.

Humanitarian Efforts Highlighted

During the meeting, both leaders reviewed the humanitarian and relief efforts that the South Korean government provides to Yemen. They emphasized the importance of continuing this support amid the ongoing challenges facing the country.

Strengthening Historical Ties

Dr. Bin Daghr praised the historical relationship between Yemen and South Korea. He expressed his desire to expand cooperation across various sectors, aiming to enhance mutual benefits for both nations.

Political and Economic Challenges in Yemen

Dr. Bin Daghr addressed the current political and economic situation in Yemen. He pointed out the persistent obstinacy of the Houthi militia, which continues to reject peace opportunities. This ongoing conflict has resulted in the loss of many Yemeni lives and poses a significant threat to maritime security, impacting regional and international safety.

Call for Respecting Yemeni Will

Dr. Bin Daghr asserted that achieving peace in Yemen requires respect for the will of the Yemeni people and adherence to international resolutions. He stressed the need to prevent the Iran-backed Houthi militia from imposing its agenda on the majority of Yemenis. He called for robust support for a just and comprehensive peace process.

South Korea’s Continued Support

In response, Ambassador Do Bong-kai reaffirmed South Korea’s commitment to supporting Yemen in various fields, particularly in humanitarian and developmental efforts. He highlighted South Korea’s dedication to strengthening partnerships and cooperation with Yemen.
