The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council praises Morocco’s commendable stance alongside the Yemeni people.

President Rashad Alimi Welcomes Moroccan Charge d'Affaires

On Sunday, President Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, received the Charge d’Affaires of the Moroccan Embassy in Yemen, Mohammed Cheriki. This meeting highlighted the strong ties between Yemen and Morocco, focusing on mutual interests and cooperation.

Greetings and Well Wishes

During the meeting, Cheriki conveyed the warm greetings of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco. He extended congratulations to President Alimi and the members of the Presidential Leadership Council on the occasion of Ramadan. Cheriki wished them good health and expressed hopes for peace and stability for the Yemeni people.

In response, President Alimi asked Cheriki to relay his greetings to King Mohammed VI. He wished the Moroccan monarch continued health and prosperity for the Moroccan people under his wise leadership.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

The discussion also covered the enhancement of bilateral relations and the development of cooperation across various levels. Both leaders explored ways to coordinate their positions regarding regional developments of mutual interest.

President Alimi praised the distinguished relationship between Yemen and Morocco, emphasizing the solidarity shown by Morocco in support of the Yemeni people and their legitimate leadership. He highlighted the importance of achieving stability, peace, and development in Yemen. In this context, he noted the resumption of meetings of the joint ministerial committee, co-chaired by the foreign ministers of both countries. These meetings have led to agreements and understandings aimed at promising bilateral cooperation, particularly in higher education, technical fields, water resources, infrastructure, security, and meteorology.

Morocco’s Commitment to Yemen

Cheriki reaffirmed Morocco’s steadfast support for the Yemeni people and their political leadership. He emphasized Morocco’s commitment to all efforts aimed at achieving peace in Yemen, in accordance with the nationally, regionally, and internationally agreed-upon frameworks. Cheriki expressed his desire for broader cooperation between the two brotherly nations, particularly in agriculture, fisheries, and the private sector.

Meeting Attendees

Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidential Office, also attended the meeting, underscoring the importance of diplomatic engagement in fostering strong international relations.

This meeting marks a significant step in reinforcing the bonds between Yemen and Morocco, paving the way for future collaboration and mutual support.
