The Chairman of the Presidential Council receives the credentials of several ambassadors from friendly nations.

Formal Reception of Ambassadors

On Wednesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, received the credentials of new ambassadors at the Maasheeq Palace in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen. The ceremony included the attendance of Foreign Minister Dr. Shaif Al-Zindani and featured the ambassadors from Canada, Jean-Philippe Lintault, and Spain, Jorge Ibia Sierra. Additionally, President Alimi accepted the credentials of Duncan Mulima, the ambassador from Zambia, and Razim Culic, the ambassador from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ambassadors Convey Greetings and Well Wishes

During separate meetings, the newly appointed ambassadors conveyed their countries’ greetings to President Alimi. They expressed wishes for his health and happiness, as well as hopes for security, stability, and peace for the Yemeni people. In response, President Alimi welcomed the ambassadors warmly and requested them to relay his greetings to their respective leaders.

Strengthening Diplomatic Relations

President Alimi highlighted the strong ties between Yemen and the countries represented by the new ambassadors. He acknowledged their steadfast support for the Yemeni people and their political leadership, particularly in efforts to restore state institutions and end the Houthi militia’s insurgency, which is backed by the Iranian regime.

International Support for Yemen

The President expressed pride in the unified stance of the international community in support of Yemen’s constitutional legitimacy, national institutions, and territorial integrity. He discussed ongoing efforts to rebuild state institutions in Aden and implement comprehensive economic and administrative reforms. Furthermore, he addressed the need to manage the repercussions of Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes.

Commitment to Peace and Stability

President Alimi reaffirmed the Council’s and government’s commitment to a comprehensive peace process based on national, regional, and international references. He emphasized the importance of equal citizenship and enhancing government capabilities to build the economy, provide services, and extend its authority throughout the country.

Call for International Cooperation

The President reiterated the necessity of relying on the legitimate government as a trusted partner to ensure freedom of international navigation, combat extremism and terrorism, and address piracy. He also urged the international community to adhere to the UN inspection mechanism and the arms embargo aimed at maintaining Yemen’s security and stability.

Acknowledgment of Support from Allies

In this context, President Alimi praised the developmental and humanitarian interventions from the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. He noted that without this support, the government would struggle to fulfill its essential obligations, including paying employee salaries.

Looking Ahead to Economic Support

The President expressed his hope for increased international economic support for the government and its humanitarian response plans, as well as efforts by allies and friends to achieve peace in Yemen based on national, regional, and international frameworks.

Attendance at the Ceremony

The meetings and credential presentations also saw the participation of Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, Director of the Presidential Leadership Council Office, and Muhammad Haj Mahfouz, Head of Presidential Protocols and Ceremonies.
