The Chairman of the Leadership Council stated that the IRGC’s flight to Sanaa is a blatant violation of Yemeni sovereignty and a direct challenge to international order.

President Alimi Calls for Stronger International Stance Against Iranian Interference in Yemen

In a recent meeting with ambassadors from countries supporting the political process in Yemen, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi urged the international community to adopt a firmer stance against blatant Iranian interventions in Yemen. This call came shortly after the Iranian regime dispatched a Revolutionary Guard flight to Sanaa Airport, which is under the control of Houthi militias. This act represents a clear violation of Yemen’s sovereignty and a blatant challenge to international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

Urgent Need for Strict Enforcement of Sanctions

During the meeting, President Alimi emphasized the necessity for strict enforcement of UN Security Council resolutions and sanctions. He specifically called for measures to prevent the use of civilian aircraft, airports, and ports for transporting military experts or equipment. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of tightening oversight on funding and smuggling networks linked to terrorist militias.

Importance of an International Investigation

President Alimi stressed the need for an international investigation into Iranian violations, particularly concerning the cargo of the Revolutionary Guard aircraft, which reportedly disabled tracking systems over Yemeni airspace. He reiterated the importance of imposing stricter sanctions on Houthi militias as a peaceful means to implement international legitimacy, especially UN Resolution 2216.

Yemen’s Sovereignty and Global Security at Stake

The President warned that Yemen only seeks the international community’s defense of the principles upon which the global system is built. He cautioned that if armed groups can challenge UN Security Council resolutions and violate sanctions without repercussions, the danger will extend beyond Yemen’s borders.

The Yemeni Crisis: A Global Challenge

President Alimi asserted that the Yemeni issue has evolved from an internal conflict to a direct challenge to the international system and the global economy, which has become hostage to Iranian militia calculations in the region. He characterized the recent Iranian breach as a significant and dangerous development, aimed at testing the international community’s ability to enforce its decisions and break the sanctions regime.

Evidence Against Houthi Claims

The President pointed out that preliminary information contradicts Houthi claims regarding the humanitarian nature of the flight. Reports indicate that the flight carried military personnel, Iranian experts in drone technology, and missile systems, along with electronic and communication equipment potentially usable in command and control systems. He noted that Yemeni personnel had received security training in Iran.

The Role of Saudi Arabia

In contrast, President Alimi praised Saudi Arabia’s constructive role in supporting state institutions and alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people. He highlighted Saudi efforts across various levels, including political, economic, humanitarian, and developmental initiatives, such as demining operations.

Misleading Houthi Narratives

The President dismissed Houthi narratives claiming to defend national sovereignty, asserting that these claims contradict the deep-rooted relationship between the Houthis and the Iranian regime. He emphasized that true defense of sovereignty begins with adherence to the constitution and respect for state institutions.

Responsibility for the Humanitarian Crisis

President Alimi held the Houthi militias directly responsible for deepening the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. He noted that the current crisis began with the militia’s coup against the state and the usurpation of its legitimate institutions. He criticized attempts to blame the Yemeni government or the coalition supporting legitimacy for the humanitarian crisis, stating that such narratives ignore the root causes of the disaster.

Conclusion: The Path to Peace

In closing, President Alimi reaffirmed the commitment of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government to a just peace based on agreed-upon national, regional, and international references. He reiterated that peace can only be achieved through adherence to these references, respect for state institutions, and the end of the coup.

The meeting included Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidency Office, and Mansour Bajash, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs.
