President Alimi Hosts U.S. Envoy to Discuss Bilateral Relations
On Monday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, welcomed U.S. Special Envoy Timothy Lenderking and U.S. Ambassador to Yemen Stephen Fagin. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations between Yemen and the United States.
Strengthening Economic Support
During the discussions, President Alimi emphasized the need for increased U.S. support for Yemen’s economy. He highlighted the importance of improving living conditions and addressing the humanitarian impact of Houthi militia attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes. The President expressed hope that U.S. assistance could help stabilize these critical areas.

President Alimi listened as Special Envoy Lenderking provided insights into potential regional and international changes following the recent U.S. elections. Lenderking also discussed his recent efforts to de-escalate tensions and the options available to encourage the Houthi militia to engage seriously in a comprehensive political process under United Nations auspices.

In this context, President Alimi reaffirmed the council’s and the government’s commitment to a comprehensive and just peace process based on national, regional, and international agreements, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
