On Sunday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, the head of the Presidential Leadership Council, received the Iraqi Ambassador to Yemen, Qais Saad Al-Amiri. This meeting marked a significant moment in the ongoing diplomatic relations between Yemen and Iraq.
During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Amiri conveyed warm greetings from Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid. He extended congratulations for the holy month of Ramadan, wishing President Alimi and the members of the council good health and well-being. Additionally, he expressed hopes for stability and peace for the Yemeni people.
In response, President Alimi asked Ambassador Al-Amiri to relay his greetings to the Iraqi leadership, along with his congratulations for the holy month.
The two leaders discussed recent developments in both countries, focusing on their bilateral relations. They explored ways to enhance cooperation across various levels and coordinated their positions regarding regional developments of mutual interest.
President Alimi praised the historical and brotherly ties between Yemen and Iraq. He acknowledged Iraq’s supportive stance alongside the Yemeni people and emphasized the shared aspirations for stability, peace, and development.
The meeting also included the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Shaif Al-Zandani, and the Director of the Office of the Presidential Leadership Council, Major General Saleh Al-Maqalih. Their presence underscored the importance of this diplomatic engagement and the commitment to strengthening ties between the two nations.
