President Rashad Alimi Meets EU Officials to Discuss Yemen’s Challenges

On Monday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, welcomed Olov Skog, Deputy Secretary-General of the European Union’s External Action Service, and Gabriel Monera Vinales, the EU Ambassador to Yemen.

Addressing Local and Regional Issues

During the meeting, the discussions focused on the current local and regional conditions in Yemen. The officials explored necessary European interventions to support Yemen’s economy and alleviate the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and maritime shipping vessels.

EU’s Commitment to Yemen

President Alimi praised the European Union’s strong commitment to standing alongside the Yemeni people and their legitimate leadership at various levels. He expressed his deep appreciation for the recent EU statement condemning the Houthi militia’s violations. This statement reflects the EU member states’ steadfast support for Yemen’s state efforts, security, stability, and sovereignty.

Emphasizing International Unity

In the meeting, President Alimi reiterated the Council’s and the government’s dedication to maintaining international unity and a positive stance regarding Yemen’s situation. He emphasized the importance of close coordination with global powers to address shared threats, particularly in protecting maritime routes and shipping vessels.

Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidential Office, also attended the meeting, contributing to the discussions on Yemen’s pressing issues.

This meeting underscores the ongoing efforts to secure international support for Yemen amid its complex challenges.
