On Wednesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, received the credentials of new ambassadors from Japan, Sudan, and Vietnam at the Maashiq Palace in Aden, Yemen’s temporary capital.
Following the ceremony, President Alimi and Council member Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami held discussions with the newly appointed ambassadors. The diplomats conveyed greetings from their respective leaders, wishing President Alimi, the council members, and the Yemeni people health, happiness, security, stability, and peace.
President Alimi warmly welcomed the new ambassadors and asked them to relay his greetings to their leaders. He emphasized the council’s commitment to providing all necessary support to enhance bilateral relations.
The President praised the strong relationships between Yemen and the ambassadors’ countries. He highlighted their unwavering support for the Yemeni people and the political leadership’s efforts to restore state institutions and end the Houthi militia’s insurgency, which is backed by the Iranian regime.
President Alimi expressed gratitude on behalf of the council, government, and Yemeni people for the international community’s unified stance in supporting Yemen’s constitutional legitimacy and national institutions. He underscored the importance of Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The President discussed the achievements in rebuilding state institutions and ensuring the operation of international missions and organizations in Aden. He noted ongoing economic and administrative reforms aimed at addressing the repercussions of Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes.
President Alimi condemned the Houthi militia’s actions, which perpetuate a war economy and fund terrorism. He criticized their severe human rights violations and resistance to efforts aimed at improving living conditions in Yemen.
The President reaffirmed the council and government’s commitment to a comprehensive peace process based on national, regional, and international references. He emphasized the need to enhance government efforts in economic recovery and extend its authority across the nation.
In this context, President Alimi acknowledged the developmental and humanitarian assistance from the Saudi-led coalition, particularly from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. This support has been crucial in enabling the Yemeni state to meet its obligations.
The President reiterated the importance of relying on the legitimate government as a trusted partner to ensure freedom of international navigation, combat extremism and terrorism, and address piracy.
He also stressed the need for the international community to classify the Houthi militia as a foreign terrorist organization. Additionally, he called for support for the United Nations’ inspection mechanisms to improve their efficiency in enforcing the arms embargo against Iran, which threatens Yemen’s security and stability.
The ceremony and subsequent meetings included the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Shaea Mohsen Al-Zandani, and the Head of Presidential Protocols, Mohammed Haj Mahfouz.
This diplomatic engagement marks a significant step in fostering international relations and enhancing Yemen’s position on the global stage.
