President Rashad Alimi Meets with Parliamentary Leaders to Discuss Current Challenges

On Thursday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, convened a meeting with Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani, the Speaker of the Parliament, and council members Mohammed Al-Shadadi and Mohsen Basra. The discussions focused on the latest developments in Yemen’s political, economic, and service sectors, particularly in light of the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by Houthi militia attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes.

Addressing Local Developments and Government Policies

During the meeting, President Alimi briefed the parliamentary leaders on the current situation in Yemen. He outlined the government’s policies and measures aimed at fulfilling the state’s obligations. Key topics included the payment of employee salaries, the sustainability of essential services, and efforts to restore national institutions. The President emphasized the need to end the Houthi coup, which is supported by the Iranian regime.

Highlights from Recent International Engagements

President Alimi also shared insights from his participation in the extraordinary Arab Summit hosted by Egypt and the Munich Security Conference. He highlighted his recent meetings with regional allies and international partners, aimed at rallying support for the Yemeni people. U.S. Designation of Houthi Militias as Terrorists

In this context, President Alimi noted the recent U.S. decision to designate the Houthi militias as a foreign terrorist organization. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to coordinate with the international community to implement the decision effectively. The aim is to minimize any negative impacts on Yemen’s financial and banking sectors, protect citizens’ interests, and ensure the flow of humanitarian aid and essential goods.

Parliamentary Oversight and Recent Activities

The President also received a briefing from Speaker Al-Barakani regarding the Parliament’s activities over the past period. This included updates on the work of the council’s leadership and its committees, which oversee the performance of the executive authority and assess the overall situation in the country.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue addressing the pressing challenges facing Yemen. Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidential Office, was present during the discussions, underscoring the importance of collaboration among Yemen’s leadership to navigate the ongoing crisis.
