The discussions focused on the latest developments in Yemen’s political, economic, and service sectors, particularly in light of the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by Houthi militia attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes.

Addressing Local Developments and Government Policies

During the meeting, President Alimi briefed the parliamentary leaders on the current situation in Yemen. He outlined the government’s policies and measures aimed at fulfilling the state’s obligations. Key topics included the payment of employee salaries, the sustainability of essential services, and efforts to restore national institutions. The President emphasized the need to end the Houthi coup, which is supported by the Iranian regime.

President Alimi also shared insights from his participation in the extraordinary Arab Summit hosted by Egypt and the Munich Security Conference. U.S. Designation of Houthi Militias as Terrorists

In this context, President Alimi noted the recent U.S. decision to designate the Houthi militias as a foreign terrorist organization. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to coordinate with the international community to implement the decision effectively. The aim is to minimize any negative impacts on Yemen’s financial and banking sectors, protect citizens’ interests, and ensure the flow of humanitarian aid and essential goods.

The President also received a briefing from Speaker Al-Barakani regarding the Parliament’s activities over the past period.
