President Alimi Meets Central Audit Authority Chief

On Sunday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, met with Judge Abubakr Hussein Al-Saqaf, the head of the Central Audit Authority. During this meeting, Al-Saqaf presented several reports outlining the results of audits conducted on various government institutions and agencies. He also shared the Authority’s vision for addressing institutional imbalances, including monetary policy, financial collapse prevention, and enhancing the state’s revenue streams.

Overview of Audit Activities

President Alimi received a comprehensive briefing from Judge Al-Saqaf on the Central Audit Authority’s oversight and accounting activities. The discussion covered the financial, administrative, and organizational performance of state institutions. Additionally, they addressed the challenges and obstacles the Authority faces in fulfilling its responsibilities. Al-Saqaf emphasized the need for measures to enhance the Authority’s performance and its legal and constitutional mandates to ensure effective oversight of public funds, focusing on efficiency, economy, and effectiveness.

Commendation for Anti-Corruption Efforts

President Alimi praised the Central Audit Authority for its significant contributions to protecting public funds and promoting integrity. He highlighted the Authority’s role in evaluating and reviewing the financial and administrative performance of various government units. The President urged swift action on the Council’s recommendations and called for the completion of audits and evaluations for all ministries and institutions. He also instructed the Authority to report any entities that fail to cooperate.

Judicial Action on Corruption Cases

In this context, President Alimi reiterated the Presidential Leadership Council’s directive to refer all cases under review by oversight bodies to the judiciary for legal action according to applicable laws. This step aims to strengthen the rule of law and accountability.

Commitment to Comprehensive Reforms

President Alimi confirmed the Council’s commitment to comprehensive reforms aimed at improving the efficiency of state institutions. He outlined necessary actions to reinforce anti-corruption mechanisms, including restructuring the National Anti-Corruption Commission. Furthermore, he called for enhancing the Central Audit Authority’s capacities and competencies, as well as establishing a high committee for tenders and bids and a supreme authority for monitoring government tenders, in accordance with existing regulations and laws.

The meeting also included Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidential Office, who attended alongside President Alimi and Judge Al-Saqaf.

The meeting underscores the Presidential Leadership Council’s dedication to transparency and accountability in governance, aiming to bolster public trust and enhance the management of state resources effectively.
