On Wednesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, held a significant international meeting. This gathering included Council members Aidarus Al-Zubaidi and Sheikh Othman Majali, alongside U.S. Special Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking. High-ranking officials from the United Kingdom, France, Australia, the European Union, Germany, the Netherlands, and Japan also participated. The meeting took place during the United Nations General Assembly, which commenced on Tuesday.

Addressing Yemen’s Current Situation

During the meeting, participants reviewed recent developments in Yemen. They discussed the necessary international pressure on the Houthi militia to engage constructively with regional and international mediation efforts. The goal is to reduce tensions and launch a comprehensive political process under United Nations auspices.

Economic and Institutional Reforms Highlighted

They explored ways to support these reforms as a viable option to enhance peace prospects. Additionally, they aimed to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and mitigate the catastrophic humanitarian impacts of Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes.
