The Chairman of the Leadership Council emphasized that a fair solution to the Palestinian issue is essential for regional peace and stability.

Yemen's President Reaffirms Commitment to Palestinian Cause at Arab Summit

In a powerful address at the extraordinary Arab summit held in Cairo, President Rashad Mohammed Alimi of Yemen reiterated his country’s unwavering support for a just resolution to the Palestinian issue. He emphasized the necessity of ending Israeli occupation and Iranian interventions in the region to foster a stable and prosperous regional system.

Call for a Two-State Solution

During his speech on Tuesday, President Alimi stressed that achieving comprehensive and sustainable stability hinges on the implementation of a two-state solution. He called for collective action to eliminate armed conflicts and enhance the Arab League’s role in countering the threats posed by Houthi militias. He also welcomed the recent decision to classify these militias as a terrorist organization, which took effect on the same day.

Lessons from Recent Events

Reflecting on the events since October 7, President Alimi noted that they have provided critical insights into the region’s challenges. He reaffirmed that Palestine remains the central issue for Arab nations and peoples. He argued that confronting expansionist occupation projects requires a strategic collective approach rather than mere slogans or reckless adventures. This strategy should support a unified Palestinian stance and strengthen global alliances to uphold international legitimacy.

Support for Palestinian Rights

President Alimi reiterated Yemen’s steadfast position in supporting the Palestinian people and their right to establish an independent state in accordance with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. He condemned projects aimed at displacement, settlement, and starvation, which the Palestinian people resist with resilience and determination.

Solidarity with Arab Neighbors

The President expressed Yemen’s full support for Egypt and Jordan, particularly regarding the Arab recovery and reconstruction plan. He highlighted the importance of mobilizing regional and international funding to ensure its success, emphasizing the need to expedite these efforts to thwart the Israeli right’s attempts to render Gaza uninhabitable.

Acknowledgment of Regional Efforts

In his remarks, President Alimi praised Egypt’s role in convening the extraordinary summit, recognizing its strategic significance in achieving Arab consensus on urgent issues. He also acknowledged the efforts of Saudi Arabia, which has worked tirelessly over recent months to organize emergency meetings in support of the Palestinian cause during this critical time.

Support for Lebanon and Syria

President Alimi extended his congratulations to the new leadership in Lebanon and Syria, expressing hope for Arab and international support for both nations. He envisioned them as successful models of political transition that uphold civil peace and sovereignty while ensuring economic development as a foundation for regional security.

Addressing Iranian Influence

The President warned against the Iranian regime’s increasing investment in Houthi militias, which exacerbates the suffering of the Yemeni people and fuels ongoing crises and conflicts. He reiterated that any political approach aimed at achieving comprehensive stability must address and end Iranian influence, which undermines international peace and security.

In closing, President Alimi reaffirmed Yemen’s commitment to the Palestinian cause and the necessity of a unified Arab response to regional challenges. He called for solidarity and collective action to ensure peace and stability in the region.
