President Alimi Discusses Economic and Security Challenges with Political Leaders

On Sunday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, convened a meeting with Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, head of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission, and his deputies, including Abdul Malik Al-Makhlafi, Sakhr Al-Wajeeh, Jamila Ali Rajea, and Akram Al-Amri. The meeting also included secretaries-general of various political parties and organizations, with the economic team leader, Hossam Al-Sharjabi, in attendance.

Addressing Local and Regional Developments

The meeting focused on recent local developments and regional and international changes. Key topics included the financial and administrative reforms necessary to meet the state’s obligations. The council prioritized the timely payment of employee salaries, the flow of essential goods and imports, and improving services to alleviate the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by attacks from Iranian-backed Houthi militias on oil facilities and shipping vessels.

Economic Challenges Remain a Priority

President Alimi emphasized that economic and service-related issues remain the council’s most significant challenges. He reiterated that these concerns will always be at the forefront of their priorities. He shared insights from his recent discussions with the government, the Central Bank, the Crisis Management Committee, and other relevant entities. These discussions aimed to align strategies and policies to regain control over the budget deficit and strengthen the national currency.

The President also highlighted significant security achievements, including the apprehension of terrorist cells linked to the Houthi militias and their allied organizations. He noted the successful thwarting of their destructive plans in several liberated provinces. Alimi praised the armed forces and all military formations for their readiness to deter Houthi provocations and advance the comprehensive liberation efforts.

President Alimi stressed the importance of unifying efforts and minimizing disputes among national forces. He called for shared responsibilities and consultations to effectively address citizens’ priorities and aspirations for restoring state institutions, security, stability, and development.

The President reaffirmed the role of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission, along with political parties, in supporting the Presidential Leadership Council as per the power transfer agreement. He emphasized the need for these entities to uphold partnership values and monitor the executive authority’s efficiency in meeting citizens’ needs across various provinces.

President Alimi reiterated the council’s and government’s commitment to ensuring the regular payment of employee salaries and the sustainability of essential services, particularly electricity and energy. He acknowledged the critical role of the Saudi-led coalition in supporting legitimacy, highlighting their economic, developmental, and humanitarian interventions as pivotal in helping the state meet its obligations over the past years.
