The Armed Forces announced on Monday that they have gained control over Bab al-Mandab and Dhubab Airport in the western Taiz Governorate. This achievement follows a military maneuver targeting positions held by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia.
Operation “Fajr Yemen” Launched
Colonel Majid al-Nazili, the official spokesperson for the Armed Forces, stated that the military commenced a large-scale operation named “Fajr Yemen” aimed at neutralizing Houthi capabilities and personnel. Forces from the Giants Brigade and the National Shield successfully captured Bab al-Mandab.
Key Tactical Advances
The Armed Forces have severed the route connecting Dhubab and Al-Makha, establishing fire control over the area. Colonel al-Nazili reported that hundreds of Houthi fighters remain trapped in the Dhubab region and urged them to surrender to government forces. He noted that some militia members managed to escape by sea using boats.
