The Arab Parliament has strongly condemned the Israeli government’s ban on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) from operating within Palestinian territories. This action has been described as a crime against humanity and a blatant violation of international laws aimed at protecting Palestinian refugees.
In a statement issued today, Arab Parliament President Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yemahi emphasized the vital role of UNRWA in providing assistance to approximately 6.4 million Palestinian refugees. Among these, around two million reside in the Gaza Strip, where they face unprecedented aggression and severe food shortages.
Al-Yemahi urged the international community, the United Nations Security Council, and human rights organizations to take immediate action. He called for pressure on the Israeli government to reverse its decision and to support UNRWA in continuing its essential services for Palestinian refugees.
The Arab Parliament’s call to action highlights the urgent need for a coordinated international response to the humanitarian crisis affecting Palestinians, particularly in Gaza. The ongoing support from UNRWA remains critical for the survival and dignity of millions of refugees facing dire circumstances.
