The Arab Parliament calls for self-reliant Arab solutions to address regional crises.

Arab Parliament Calls for Innovative Solutions to Regional Challenges

Arab Unity and National Interests

Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yemahi, President of the Arab Parliament, emphasized the need for innovative efforts and solutions to address the challenges facing the Arab nation. He urged Arab parliamentarians to utilize all tools of parliamentary diplomacy effectively. Al-Yemahi highlighted the importance of developing self-sustaining Arab solutions that preserve national unity and prioritize state interests over narrow factional concerns. He called for ensuring lasting coexistence among all segments of society and safeguarding national resources for current and future generations. Additionally, he stressed the necessity of curbing foreign interventions in Arab states. This approach, he noted, reflects the Arab Parliament’s consistent stance on these crises.

Opening Session of the Arab Parliament

These remarks came during the opening session of the Arab Parliament’s first meeting of the fourth legislative term, held today at the headquarters of the Arab League. Al-Yemahi reaffirmed that the Palestinian cause remains the Arab Parliament’s primary focus. He stated that, now more than ever, it requires intensified efforts and a more significant role, especially given the ongoing humanitarian crisis faced by the Palestinian people. He condemned the war and forced displacement that have persisted for over a year, labeling it one of history’s most heinous crimes against humanity.

Support for Palestine

Al-Yemahi reiterated that the Arab Parliament would continue its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and its people until they achieve their legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. He called for an immediate halt to the brutal aggression perpetrated by the occupying entity against the Palestinian people in Gaza and other occupied territories, as well as its aggression against Lebanon. He urged the international community and its institutions to awaken from their prolonged inaction and restore the strength and position of international humanitarian law by immediately ceasing this aggression.

Strengthening Parliamentary Diplomacy

The Arab Parliament, through its effective and influential parliamentary diplomacy, aims to complement the official Arab diplomacy led by the Arab League and its specialized organizations. This collaboration will help address the various challenges confronting the Arab nation.

Enhancing External Relations

In terms of foreign relations, Al-Yemahi asserted that the Arab Parliament will strive to ensure that its voice is heard and influential in all regional and international parliamentary forums. This initiative aims not only to defend just Arab causes but also to convey the Arab people’s perspectives on ongoing regional and international developments.

The Arab Parliament’s commitment to proactive engagement underscores its role as a vital player in addressing the pressing issues facing the Arab world today.
