The Arab Parliament has issued a strong call for a unified response from Arab and African nations to address the ongoing violence against the Palestinian people by Israeli forces. This appeal came during the opening of the 11th Conference of the Association of Senates, Shura Councils, and Similar Councils in Africa and the Arab World. The conference takes place in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea, under the theme “Enhancing Joint Parliamentary Action of Southern Countries to Address Development Challenges and Technological and Environmental Issues.”
During his address, Arab Parliament President Adel Al-Asoumi emphasized the severity of the situation facing the Palestinian people. He described it as one of the most horrific massacres in history, occurring over nearly a year while the world stands by without taking action. Al-Asoumi criticized nations that continue to support these acts of violence, which disproportionately affect women, children, and the elderly.
Al-Asoumi stated that the ongoing crimes against Palestinians represent a “stain on the conscience of humanity.” He pointed out that these events not only reveal the brutality and criminal nature of the occupying forces but also highlight the inadequacies of the current global system. He argued that this system, characterized by double standards and international hypocrisy, fails to promote peace or halt the cycle of violence and destruction.
The Arab Parliament President condemned the international community’s lack of action regarding the continuous aggression in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories. He called on all nations to unite against these injustices and work towards a peaceful resolution.
