Taiz, Yemen – Today, Governor Nabil Shamsan inaugurated a significant project aimed at building and enhancing the capacities of civil society organizations and youth initiatives. This initiative involves the participation of 121 organizations and 242 trainees from the Taiz Governorate.
During the launch, Governor Shamsan emphasized that this project marks an unprecedented achievement. He stated that its objectives extend beyond merely securing funding. Instead, the focus lies on empowering participants to develop innovative visions, initiatives, and projects that can attract new funding and implement sustainable development programs.
Shamsan highlighted that the trainees will acquire essential skills and experiences, enabling them to embark on future projects that are more efficient and impactful. This, in turn, will contribute to community service and bolster local development.
The governor noted that the project’s most significant impact will resonate throughout the governorate and Yemen as a whole. He pointed out the diversity of participants and the project’s aim to enhance the role of civil society organizations and youth in development efforts.
He described this initiative as a genuine starting point for a successful journey, assuring that local authorities will support all initiatives and efforts aimed at achieving its goals and ensuring successful outcomes.
Fouad Al-Faqih, Director of the Social Affairs and Labor Office in the governorate, affirmed that the project, titled “Yemen Has a Bright Future,” represents a crucial step toward strengthening the capacities of civil society organizations and youth initiatives. He emphasized that these organizations must effectively fulfill their developmental and humanitarian roles.
Al-Faqih explained that his office oversaw the coordination and selection of the 121 organizations and youth initiatives participating in the project. This selection process adhered to criteria ensuring that the program reaches those most capable of serving the community. He stressed that investing in capacity building is fundamental to achieving sustainable development.
The project aims to train 242 participants representing 121 organizations and youth initiatives in Taiz. The training program will span 16 days and cover essential areas such as leadership, project management, community initiative development, resource mobilization, and partnership building. These training sessions will enhance participants’ abilities to implement sustainable development projects.
Al-Faqih added that the project seeks to empower both youth and women, developing their skills in project preparation and management. It also aims to improve civil society organizations’ access to funding and grants while expanding partnerships between local authorities, civil society organizations, and international partners to support local development.
The governor expressed gratitude for the support from the European Union, the Young Leaders Foundation, and the Zawaa Organization in executing the project. He hopes that the program’s impact will lead to the implementation of quality initiatives that benefit the local community.
This initiative represents a significant step forward in fostering a collaborative environment for development in Taiz, paving the way for a brighter future for its residents.
