Minister Launches Specialized GIS Training Course
Today, Minister of Public Works and Roads, Engineer Hussein Al-Aqrobi, inaugurated a specialized training course in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This initiative, organized by the Roads and Bridges Maintenance Fund in collaboration with the World Bank, is being implemented by the company Etmam.
Course Objectives and Participants
The training aims to equip 20 participants from the Roads and Bridges Maintenance Fund, the General Authority for Roads and Bridges, and the Ministry’s General Office. Participants will gain essential skills in map preparation, spatial analysis, and geographic data management using the ArcGIS Pro software developed by Esri.
Emphasizing Modern Technology
Minister Al-Aqrobi highlighted the importance of integrating modern technologies into the ministry’s operations. He stated that these technologies serve as a fundamental pillar for enhancing institutional performance and improving service quality in the road sector. The minister noted that the ministry is committed to updating its technical and administrative tools to keep pace with technological advancements. He emphasized that investing in human resource development is crucial for advancing the road sector and meeting growing demands.
Acknowledging International Support
The Minister praised the ongoing partnership with the World Bank, recognizing its continuous support for the ministry’s efforts to develop infrastructure and strengthen institutional capacities. This collaboration significantly contributes to improving service levels and achieving sustainable development.
