A recent report from the Security Media Center highlights a troubling rise in traffic accidents in liberated areas during November. The statistics reveal that 70 individuals lost their lives and 414 others sustained injuries, including 213 severe injuries. The total financial losses from these incidents reached approximately 949 million Riyals.

Breakdown of Traffic Incidents

According to data provided by the General Directorate of Leadership and Control, the month recorded 379 traffic accidents. These incidents included 221 vehicle collisions, 96 pedestrian accidents, 45 vehicle rollovers, and 17 miscellaneous accidents.

Traffic Violations on the Rise

In November, traffic police in the liberated provinces reported 11,972 traffic violations. These violations encompassed a range of offenses, including disregarding traffic laws, running red lights, obstructing traffic flow, and failing to adhere to safety regulations. Each of these violations posed significant risks to road users.

Causes of Accidents

The report identifies several key factors contributing to the rise in accidents. These include speeding, dangerous overtaking, neglect of vehicle maintenance, overloading, and poor vehicle and road conditions. Additionally, both drivers and pedestrians often ignore crossing guidelines, further exacerbating the situation.

The alarming statistics underscore the urgent need for increased monitoring and intensified awareness campaigns. These efforts aim to ensure the safety of road users and reduce the frequency of accidents.
