Strengthening Humanitarian Cooperation in Taiz

Today, Major General Abdul Aziz Al-Majidi, the Chief of Staff of the Taiz Axis, welcomed Johannes Roth, the Deputy Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) mission in Yemen. Their meeting focused on enhancing collaboration and coordination between the Taiz Axis and the ICRC in humanitarian efforts.

Commitment to Humanitarian Efforts

Major General Al-Majidi emphasized the Taiz leadership’s commitment to fully cooperate with the ICRC. He highlighted the importance of providing necessary facilities to enable the organization to carry out its humanitarian missions effectively in Taiz. Furthermore, he stressed the significance of collective action in addressing the humanitarian challenges facing the province.

ICRC Support Projects

During the meeting, Johannes Roth outlined the support areas and projects that the ICRC is implementing in Taiz. He noted that these initiatives particularly target the healthcare sector, which suffers from a severe lack of services. Roth expressed gratitude to the Taiz leadership for its ongoing collaboration with the organization, reflecting a shared commitment to improving the humanitarian situation in the region.

Ongoing Humanitarian Partnership

At the conclusion of the meeting, Johannes Roth reiterated the ICRC’s dedication to continuing its humanitarian partnership. He underscored the need to strengthen cooperation and coordination with relevant local authorities to better serve the population and alleviate their ongoing suffering due to the conflict. Roth also called for unified efforts to achieve peace and stability in Taiz.
