Last week, traffic accidents in the liberated regions and provinces resulted in the deaths of nine individuals and injuries to 61 others. The Security Media of the Ministry of Interior reported these alarming statistics, highlighting the urgent need for improved road safety measures.
According to traffic police reports, the week witnessed a total of 97 traffic accidents. Among the injured, 33 individuals sustained severe injuries. The financial impact of these accidents exceeded 28 million and 180 thousand Riyals. The incidents included 61 vehicle collisions, 18 pedestrian accidents, nine cases of vehicles crashing, six vehicle rollovers, and three instances of individuals falling from vehicles.
Traffic police attributed the high number of accidents to several factors. Key issues include violations of traffic rules, such as speeding and dangerous overtaking. Additionally, distractions while driving, neglect of vehicle maintenance, and failure to check the vehicle’s technical readiness before driving contributed to the accidents. Poor road conditions and pedestrian negligence also played significant roles in these incidents.
The rising number of traffic accidents in the liberated areas underscores the critical need for enhanced road safety awareness and enforcement of traffic regulations. Authorities must prioritize education and preventive measures to reduce these tragic occurrences and protect the lives of all road users.
