On Monday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, welcomed the leadership of the National Resistance Political Bureau, led by Deputy Chairman Sheikh Nasser Baqeel. This meeting forms part of extensive consultations with various political forces and active components in Yemen regarding the current phase’s requirements and challenges.
During the meeting, President Alimi highlighted the importance of such gatherings. He emphasized that they reflect the Presidential Leadership Council’s commitment to broad consultations with political entities. This approach embodies principles of transparency, partnership, and unity, especially during these critical times in Yemen’s history.
President Alimi praised the National Resistance’s efforts, particularly under the leadership of Council member Brigadier General Tariq Saleh. He recognized their role in countering the Iranian-backed Houthi agenda and their coordinated humanitarian interventions with local authorities across various provinces.
The President expressed pride in the responsible national role played by all political forces in defending the republican system and opposing Iran’s expansionist project in Yemen and the region. He reaffirmed the Council’s and the government’s commitment to addressing the essential observations and proposals from political parties to enhance governmental performance in line with transitional references and political laws.
President Alimi briefed the National Resistance leaders on local developments, particularly the economic and financial challenges facing the government. He discussed available options to transform these challenges into opportunities for recovery based on self-sustaining resources.
The President clarified that the current crisis did not arise overnight. It resulted from terrorist attacks and accumulated complexities that the state could not tackle alone. He acknowledged the support from the Saudi-led coalition and the valuable interventions from regional and international partners.
President Alimi reiterated the importance of uniting national forces to focus on restoring state institutions. He emphasized that true partnership lies in fulfilling the aspirations of the Yemeni people and achieving liberation goals. He called for building a just state based on equal citizenship and condemning all forms of racism.
The President stressed the necessity of a unified media discourse to support government efforts in rebuilding state institutions, improving public revenues, and advancing comprehensive reforms based on transparency, governance, and partnerships with regional and international donors.
President Alimi also discussed significant security achievements, including the apprehension of terrorist cells linked to the Houthi militia and their allied organizations. These efforts have thwarted destructive plans in several liberated provinces.
During the meeting, the President listened to a brief overview from the National Resistance leaders regarding their efforts to strengthen republican alignment. They presented proposals to improve coordination among all national forces and their partnerships in decision-making that reflects the will of the Yemeni people.
The President also heard a presentation on the Bureau’s vision for addressing political and economic changes, as well as strategies to alleviate humanitarian suffering. They discussed building broad national partnerships to fulfill the transitional phase’s requirements.
The meeting concluded with the presence of Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, Director of the Presidential Leadership Council Office, highlighting the ongoing commitment to collaboration and national unity in Yemen’s challenging landscape.
