Operational Revenues in Saudi Arabia Rise by 10.6% in April 2026

Recent short-term business indicators released by the General Authority for Statistics in Saudi Arabia reveal a significant increase in operational revenues. The index rose by 10.6% in April 2026 compared to the same month in 2025. However, the index experienced a monthly decline of 3.8% when compared to March 2026. This fluctuation highlights the challenges faced by certain economic sectors.

Annual Growth Driven by Key Sectors

The preliminary results indicate that annual growth received strong support from several economic activities. Notable contributors include:

  • Mining and Quarrying: +22.5%
  • Manufacturing: +10.3%
  • Wholesale and Retail Trade, and Vehicle Repair: +6.9%
  • Construction: +5.4%
  • Financial and Insurance Activities: +14.2%

This growth demonstrates the ability of key sectors to bolster the Saudi economy and achieve positive results in operational revenues.

Monthly Decline Influenced by Production Sector Decrease

Despite the annual growth, the index recorded a monthly decline of 3.8%. This downturn stemmed from reductions in several sectors. The sectors that faced negative impacts include:

  • Manufacturing and Mining: -19.1%
  • Wholesale and Retail Trade, and Vehicle Repair: -1.5%
  • Financial and Insurance Activities: -2.5%
  • Information and Communications: -1.5%
  • Transportation and Storage: -4.9%

These declines emphasize the need for improved performance in these sectors to achieve greater economic stability.

Increase in Employee Compensation and Building Permits

The index for employee compensation saw an annual increase of 10.1%, supported by:

  • Manufacturing: +12.1%
  • Construction: +8.0%
  • Wholesale and Retail Trade, and Vehicle Repair: +9.3%
  • Mining and Quarrying: +1.8%
  • Financial and Insurance Activities: +12.5%

On a monthly basis, the index rose by 0.1%, reflecting growth in manufacturing and construction activities.

Additionally, data showed a remarkable increase in the number of building permits issued in April 2026, rising by 28.2% year-on-year to reach 7,356 permits, compared to 5,740 permits in April 2025. The monthly increase also stood at 42.5% compared to March 2026, indicating continued positive activity in the construction sector across the Kingdom.
