Prime Minister Reviews Social Insurance Institution's Operations and Challenges

In a significant move to oversee the operations and address the challenges faced by the Public Social Insurance Institution, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak visited the institution on Tuesday. During his visit, he assessed the institution’s insurance activities and the efforts being made to overcome obstacles, aiming to serve the insured workers in the private sector efficiently.

Enhancing Services through Technology and Investment

Accompanied by the Minister of Civil Service and Insurance and the Chairman of the institution’s board, Dr. Abdulnasser Al-Wali, Prime Minister bin Mubarak toured various departments. He received briefings on the ongoing work to modernize and improve insurance services in accordance with the prevailing insurance law. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of adopting electronic operations, enhancing service quality, and utilizing electronic archiving for insured individuals’ data. He also highlighted the need to activate the investment sector within the institution to leverage its assets, thereby boosting its revenue and ability to cover retirement pensions.

Strategic Meeting to Discuss Future Plans

Following the tour, Prime Minister bin Mubarak chaired a meeting with the leadership of the Public Social Insurance Institution and the General Authority for Insurance and Pensions. The meeting focused on the current status of both entities and their plans to develop service and insurance activities further and expand the social and insurance care umbrella.

Government Support and International Responsibility

The Prime Minister directed continuous development of the institution and the authority’s activities, urging innovative investment strategies to grow their savings and diversify their investment portfolios. He called on the international community, including the United Nations, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund, to take responsibility for the financial burdens imposed by the Houthi militia’s looting of insurance and pension funds. Dr. bin Mubarak reiterated the government’s commitment to overcoming these challenges, enhancing transparency, accountability, and combating corruption as part of its administrative reform and institutional development efforts.

Acknowledgment of Efforts and Future Directions

Officials, including the Minister of Civil Service and Insurance, Dr. Abdullah Baouzir, and acting head of the General Authority for Insurance and Pensions, Ali Al-Hadar, welcomed the Prime Minister’s visit and continuous support. They outlined the institution’s current situation, efforts, achievements, future plans for administrative and institutional development, and the move towards automating services for beneficiaries.

The visit, which included the Prime Minister’s Office Director, Engineer Anis Baharitha, and advisor Ambassador Mujeeb Osman, underscores the government’s dedication to enhancing the insurance system, securing employees’ rights, and providing social protection for them and their families.

This initiative reflects the government’s strategic approach to institutional and administrative reform, aiming to improve the insurance system’s performance and leverage its investments for the benefit of all stakeholders.
