President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, accompanied by council members Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi and Sheikh Osman Majali, arrived in Mukalla, the capital of Hadhramaut, on Saturday. This visit marks the second presidential trip to the governorate, which has been facing intertwined financial and developmental challenges since the terrorist attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi militias on oil facilities, export ports, maritime shipping vessels, and international navigation routes.
During their visit, the President and council members will hold meetings with the local authority leadership, the executive office, military and security leaders, political and social figures, media representatives, and representatives of civil society organizations. The aim is to update them on the latest national developments, efforts to enhance the role of government institutions in improving service and living conditions for the residents of the governorate, and to encourage national investments.
In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (SABA) and other media outlets, the President expressed his and his fellow council members’ pleasure in visiting Hadhramaut Governorate and meeting its local and community leaders to discuss ways to support the local authority’s efforts to fulfill its obligations to citizens across various sectors.
The head of the Presidential Leadership Council acknowledged the council and government’s awareness of the financial situation in the governorate and the significant role of the local authority in alleviating its living, humanitarian, and service burdens. He praised the local authority’s participation in successes and failures rather than avoiding them.
In this context, the President lauded the humanitarian and developmental interventions by the Coalition to Support Legitimacy led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in Hadhramaut Governorate and their notable impact at all levels.
Furthermore, he reiterated the council and government’s commitment to strengthening the role of local authorities in Hadhramaut and all liberated governorates, supporting their efforts to achieve security and stability, and improve services in a manner befitting the role and status of Hadhramaut as a model for a state of institutions and rule of law.
Upon their arrival at Al-Rayyan Airport, the President and council members were warmly received by the President’s Council Advisor for Local Authority Affairs, Engineer Badr Basalma, Hadhramaut Governor Mabkhout bin Madi, members of the House of Representatives and the Shura Council, the Secretary-General of the local council in Hadhramaut Saleh Al-Amri, deputy governors, military and security leaders, executive office directors, esteemed scholars, social figures, political party representatives, civil organization representatives, and a large number of citizens who welcomed the President and his accompanying delegation.
