The Minister of Information stated that the Houthi militia is Iran’s most dangerous tool in threatening regional security and extorting the international community.

Houthi Militias: A Threat to Regional Stability

Minister Highlights Iranian Influence

The Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, emphasized that the Iranian-backed Houthi militias play a crucial role in undermining international efforts to curb Tehran’s destructive influence in the region. In a recent press statement, Al-Eryani described the Houthis as the most dangerous tool in Iran’s arsenal, representing a complete model of the Revolutionary Guard’s operations outside Iran’s borders.

Houthi Actions and Regional Security

Al-Eryani pointed out that recent developments over the past two years have clearly shown how the Houthis have become the glove that Iran uses to execute its aggressive agenda. They have transformed Yemen into a launchpad for drone and missile attacks against neighboring countries, threatening global energy security and international shipping routes. This unprecedented escalation poses a significant risk to both regional and international stability.

International Approaches to Iranian Military Tools

The Minister warned that any international strategy aimed at reducing Iran’s military tools must also address the armed presence of the Houthi militias. Failing to do so would leave a strategic gap in the heart of the Arabian Peninsula, allowing Tehran to continue its destructive project through a ready-made proxy. The challenging terrain and complex internal conditions in Yemen further enable the Houthis to exploit this situation.

Ignoring the Houthi Threat

Al-Eryani noted that neglecting the Houthi threat within regional and international policies provides Iran with strategic breathing room. This situation allows Tehran to use the Houthis as leverage in future negotiations or settlements. Additionally, it serves as an alternative plan to expand its influence in a vital region that overlooks one of the world’s most important maritime passages, Bab el-Mandeb, and is close to energy sources critical to the global economy.

The Importance of Yemen’s Stability

Al-Eryani firmly stated that the security and stability of Yemen are not merely local concerns; they are regional and international necessities. The continued control of Houthi militias over parts of Yemen ensures Iran’s ongoing role in destabilizing the region. This situation creates a direct threat to international trade and energy corridors, undermining both international and regional efforts to establish peace and stability in the area.
