Continued Displacement in Yemen Amid Ongoing Conflict

The Executive Unit for the Management of Displaced Persons Camps has reported a persistent wave of displacement in the provinces of Taiz, Al Hudaydah, and Lahij. This situation arises from the ongoing military escalation by the Houthi militia, which receives support from the Iranian regime.

Displacement Figures for September 8

On September 8, the Executive Unit recorded 1,367 new displaced families in just one day. This increase raised the total number of displaced families documented in the three provinces from 4,778 families on September 7 to 6,145 families.

Distribution of Displaced Families

  • Taiz: 988 families
  • Al Hudaydah: 354 families
  • Lahij: 25 families
  • Adan: 19 previously displaced families

Reasons for Increased Displacement

The report indicates that the displacement occurs amid continued Houthi escalation, which generates rising tensions and fears for the safety of civilians near conflict lines.

Humanitarian Response Efforts

The Executive Unit confirmed that its field teams continue to:

  • Monitor and document displaced families
  • Verify data and access locations
  • Assess humanitarian needs
  • Coordinate with local authorities, organizations, and partners

These efforts aim to expedite the response to the increasing needs for shelter, food, water, essential supplies, health services, and protection.

Urgent Call for Humanitarian Organizations

The Executive Unit has urged humanitarian organizations and donors to expand their response and ensure the protection of displaced families while facilitating access to aid. They warned of a potential increase in the number of displaced individuals in the coming period.
