Yemen's Human Rights Ministry Condemns Houthi Militia Attacks on Civilians

Ongoing Violations in Al-Bayda Province

The Ministry of Human Rights in Yemen has issued a strong condemnation of the continuous attacks and violations committed by the Houthi militias, supported by the Iranian regime, against civilians in the Al-Bayda province. A recent assault, which occurred on Wednesday, resulted in the death of one citizen and the injury of another.

According to a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), armed elements of the Houthi terrorist militia opened fire on Seif Murdas Al-Sarari and Muqbil Nasser Al-Sarari, residents of the village of Hama Sarar in the Qifah area of Wald Rabi’ district. The attack took place at a militia checkpoint while they were passing by on a motorcycle, leading to the death of the former and severe injuries to the latter.

Military Reinforcements and Increased Tensions

The statement further disclosed that the Houthi militias dispatched military reinforcements, consisting of six armed military vehicles, to the area. They surrounded the region and its inhabitants, maintaining a tense situation. Monitoring teams affiliated with the ministry have reported additional civilian casualties due to these ongoing assaults.

Leadership and Responsibility

The ministry identified Houthi leader Ali Al-Rasas Al-Bahji, who falsely claims the title of Central Security Commander in Al-Bayda province, as the leader and individual responsible for mobilizing armed forces to the area with the intent of committing further crimes against civilian residents.

Call for International Action

The ministry emphasized that the grave violations perpetrated by the Houthi terrorist militia against civilians underscore the group’s disregard for peace processes and non-compliance with agreements. The ministry strongly advocates for the High Commissioner for Human Rights and all international mechanisms to condemn these violations and crimes. It urges efforts to prosecute those responsible, ensure the protection of civilians in areas under militia control, and consider the actions of the Houthi militia as obstructive to peace efforts, warranting international trials and sanctions.
