Minister of Information Denounces Houthi Leader’s Claims

Minister of Information Muammar Al-Eryani has publicly criticized the recent statements made by Houthi leader Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, labeling them as a blatant attempt to distort the truth and mislead public opinion. Al-Eryani emphasized that the Houthi militia bears direct responsibility for one of the worst crises in Yemen’s modern history.

Economic Destruction by Houthi Militias

Al-Eryani pointed out that those who now claim to “protect Yemen’s wealth” are the same individuals responsible for the devastation of the country’s key economic resources. The Houthi militia has targeted oil export ports, threatened international companies, and halted oil and gas exports, actions that have resulted in billions of dollars in losses and deprived the Yemeni people of essential revenue, salaries, and basic services.

Targeting of Oil Ports

The minister highlighted that the Houthi militia has employed Iranian drones to attack oil export ports in the Hadhramaut and Shabwa governorates. This aggression has forced companies to cease operations, plunging Yemen’s economy into a severe crisis. Al-Eryani criticized the militia for attempting to shift blame onto others for the crimes they have committed.

Economic Mismanagement and Humanitarian Crisis

Al-Eryani stated that the Houthi militia has systematically dismantled Yemen’s economy. They have looted state revenues, seized resources from public institutions, and withheld salaries from employees for years. The militia has also imposed taxes and extorted citizens and traders, diverted humanitarian aid, and caused widespread displacement. Additionally, they have transformed the port of Hodeidah into a hub for smuggling weapons and Iranian experts.

Misuse of Sanaa Airport

Regarding Sanaa Airport, Al-Eryani asserted that the militia has exploited it for military purposes, repeatedly refusing to adhere to international civil aviation standards. Their military ventures have endangered both infrastructure and civil aviation. Furthermore, the militia has seized and damaged civilian aircraft, demonstrating a blatant disregard for the suffering of patients, travelers, and students.

Allegations of Sovereignty and Independence

Al-Eryani ridiculed the militia’s claims of “sovereignty” and “independence,” arguing that they lack true autonomy due to their close ties with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. The militia receives weapons, expertise, and directives from Tehran, dragging Yemen into senseless wars that serve Iranian interests rather than those of the Yemeni people.

Saudi Arabia’s Support for Yemen

The minister acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support for Yemen during challenging times, noting that the Kingdom has provided unprecedented political, economic, humanitarian, and developmental assistance. In contrast, the Houthi militia and the Iranian regime have only brought bloodshed, destruction, hunger, poverty, and oppression to the Yemeni people. They have also manipulated children, sending them to the front lines of conflict.

A Call for Accountability

Al-Eryani concluded by asserting that Yemenis are now fully aware of who stands with them and who has plundered their nation. He stressed that history will not forgive those who have plunged Yemen into a cycle of war, poverty, and famine since 2004, all in service of a foreign sectarian agenda that undermines Yemen’s authentic Arab identity and history.
