Weather Forecast: High Temperatures and Rain Expected Across Yemen

The General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology’s Weather Forecast and Early Warning Center has issued a report predicting hot to extremely hot weather in coastal areas and nearby regions. The forecast, released on Sunday, indicates partly cloudy skies with a chance of scattered rain in parts of the eastern and southern coastal areas, including the Socotra Archipelago. Moderate winds will intensify around Socotra and parts of the southern coasts.

Mountainous Regions to Experience Rain

According to the daily weather bulletin, which was shared with the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the mountainous regions can expect partly cloudy skies and moderate temperatures. Thunderstorms, some of which may be heavy and accompanied by hail, could affect various areas in the western and southwestern highlands. This weather pattern may extend to parts of Lahij, Abyan, Shabwa, Hadramout, and Al-Mahra.

In contrast, the desert and plateau regions will generally experience dry and partly cloudy conditions, with hot to extremely hot temperatures during the day and moderate temperatures at night and early morning. Thunderstorms may also occur in parts of Al-Mahra, Hadramout, Shabwa, and Al-Jawf, with moderate to active winds stirring up dust and sand.

Safety Recommendations for Citizens

The center urges citizens in desert and coastal areas to avoid direct sunlight during midday. High humidity in coastal regions may lead to elevated perceived temperatures. Residents in areas expecting rainfall should steer clear of flood channels and valleys, refrain from staying outdoors during thunderstorms, and remain cautious of strong winds.

Marine Conditions and Warnings

In its daily marine bulletin, the center forecasts light waves along the western coasts. The coasts of Shabwa, Abyan, Aden, and Bab al-Mandab will experience light to moderate waves, while the coasts of Al-Mahra and Hadramout may see moderate to rough waves. The waters around the Socotra Archipelago will also be rough.

The center warns fishermen and ship captains in the eastern and southern coasts, the Gulf of Aden, and around the Socotra Archipelago and Arabian Sea of potential sea disturbances, high waves, and strong winds.
