Meteorologists predict continued extreme heat in coastal and desert areas, with thunderstorms expected in mountainous regions.

Weather Forecast: Hot and Humid Conditions Expected

The General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting and Early Warning Center predicts continued hot and humid weather in coastal areas and nearby regions. On Wednesday, the forecast indicates partly cloudy skies with moderate to active winds along the eastern and southern coasts. In contrast, the western coasts will experience light to moderate winds, while strong winds may reach up to 45 knots in the Socotra Archipelago.

Mountainous Regions: Possible Thunderstorms

According to the daily weather report, which the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) received, the mountainous regions will also see partly cloudy conditions. There is a possibility of scattered thunderstorms in areas from Saada in the north to the western and southwestern highlands, extending to the Lahij and Abyan governorates. The report also notes that desert and plateau areas will experience dry weather, generally clear to partly cloudy skies, and high temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. Moderate winds will pick up during the day, stirring up sand and dust.

The forecast for maximum and minimum temperatures on Wednesday is as follows:

    • Mukalla: 37°C / 28°C
    • Hodeidah: 36°C / 30°C
    • Socotra: 34°C / 25°C
    • Mokha: 39°C / 28°C
    • Al-Ghaydah: 33°C / 26°C
    • Zinjibar: 39°C / 28°C
    • Lahij: 39°C / 28°C
  • Desert and Plateau Areas:

    • Sayun: 43°C / 25°C
    • Marib: 41°C / 26°C
    • Ataq: 40°C / 26°C
    • Bayhan: 40°C / 25°C
  • Mountainous Areas:
    • Sana’a: 32°C / 15°C
    • Taiz: 33°C / 20°C
    • Dhamar: 30°C / 11°C
    • Al-Dhale: 34°C / 21°C
    • Ibb: 30°C / 16°C
    • Al-Bayda: 32°C / 15°C

Safety Warnings for Citizens

The center has reiterated its warnings to citizens in desert and coastal areas about the extreme heat and the dangers of prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Residents in coastal regions should take necessary precautions against humid conditions. Additionally, the center warns those in areas expecting thunderstorms to take precautions to avoid potential hazards.

Marine Conditions: Caution Advised

In its daily marine bulletin, the center forecasts calm seas along the coasts of Abyan and Aden. The western coasts will see light to moderate waves, while the coasts of Shabwa and Bab al-Mandab will experience moderate waves. The waters off Hadramaut will be moderately to rough, and the seas around the Socotra Archipelago will be rough to very rough. The center also notes that regional waters in the Red Sea will have light to moderate waves, while the Gulf of Aden will see moderate to rough conditions, and the Arabian Sea will be rough to very rough.

Warnings for Mariners and Fishermen

The center has issued warnings to ship captains, fishermen, and sea-goers around the Socotra Archipelago and the coasts of Al-Mahra and Hadramaut. They should be cautious of rough seas, high waves, and strong winds. Additionally, fishermen and citizens along the coasts of Shabwa, Abyan, Aden, and Lahij should remain vigilant due to rough seas and strong currents.
